El Camello Jr. is a straightforward seafood restaurant tucked into Tulum’s Centro area, just off the main highway between Chetumal and Cancun. It’s a favorite spot for those who come with an appetite and leave without feeling shortchanged—portions here lean generous, reflecting a local appreciation for hearty, unpretentious meals.

The atmosphere at El Camello Jr. strikes a balance between casual and lively. You won’t find sleek decor or softly curated playlists; instead, expect a bustling, no-frills dining room where the focus is firmly on the food. It caters equally well to families, groups of friends, and solo travelers looking for a fresh catch without breaking the bank.

Seafood is obviously the star here, with highlights including various preparations of fried fish, robust ceviche servings, and combinations like “Mariscada” and seafood soups that showcase the wide availability of local ocean flavors. The shrimp dishes—like garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp with rice—offer a rich, satisfying experience. The kitchen delivers consistent freshness and seasoning that keeps regulars coming back.

This spot is especially well suited for midday to early evening visits when the hunger is strong and the pace is relaxed enough to savor multiple courses, perhaps starting with a shrimp cocktail or a tangy ceviche, then moving on to grilled calamari or brochetas mar y tierra (surf and turf skewers). Cocktails such as caipirinhas and piña coladas round out the offering, making it a good place to settle in after a day of exploring.

Pricing here leans toward the affordable side, which is part of the appeal alongside the straightforward service and quick turnaround. Expect a busy but efficient dining experience—and a setting that feels authentically local, rather than geared toward tourist spectacle.

For visitors who want a taste of the sea served up in solid portions without fuss, El Camello Jr. fits naturally into a Tulum itinerary as a practical, satisfying stop that reflects the everyday seafood culture of the region.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Tulum. The seafoods are so fresh and they give you so much food you would not walk out of here hungry. The prices are so cheap we had literally appetizer + food + desserts + drink for two under 850 pesos. Please try the pasta here if u have not. I be coming back soon :))

Amazing food experience. Highly recommend the Ceviche, Filet de Pescado en Salsa Camello and the Shrimp in Garlic. So good you don’t want your meal to end. Portions are great and we came back a second time and will likely go again before leaving Tulum! Paid around 250-280 Pesos per meal plus drinks (160 for cocktails).

El Camello Jr. is a must every time we’re in Tulum. The seafood is always fresh and flavorful, and my wife swears by their fried fish — crispy, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. It’s a laid-back spot with great prices, generous portions, and fast, friendly service. Easy to find and well worth the visit, this place never disappoints. A true local gem!

Came here solely based on the number of reviews this place got. I only tried the guac and the grilled fish tacos. The food itself was very fresh, I think the guac could have had a little more spice, but they did have hot sauce sitting around. The price was reasonable, it could be a little lower for what it is. But overall good experience. If I go back, it will be to try something new.

We heard El Camello Jr. recommended over and over—especially for the ceviche—and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The fish was super fresh, the portions generous, and the flavor spot on. It’s a place that feels authentic, which is refreshing in a town like Tulum where so much feels overly curated. Great value for money and friendly, efficient service made it one of our favorite stops in Tulum.

We liked the food and the atmosphere, everything was great. Make sure to bring cash as they don't accept any other payment method.

It’s a local restaurant with good food. We went twice. The ceviche mixto (shrimp and octopus)was my favorite, the portions are very generous. We got a whole fried fish and tacos too. If you want good food and don’t want to spend too much this is the place! I really recommend it!
